I wish the military had a better way of helping with child care. Childcare aware is horrible. Each time I call, I’m told a different requirement. And they sound like they’re speaking off of a script. It’s like talking to a bunch of minions. And I don’t understand why I can’t speak to the people reviewing the paperwork I submit. The ones who speak with you barely have an updates. If I could give Childcare Aware of America negative stars, I would. This has been one of the most disorganized, inconsistent, and frankly unacceptable experiences we have ever had with an organization that claims to support military families. The communication alone is enough to raise serious concerns. We have repeatedly received emails literally one minute before close of business, eliminating any real opportunity to respond or resolve issues in a timely manner. I would not recommend this organization to my enemy. They make the process of receiving any fee assistance for childcare a nightmare. Military families already have enough stress to deal with and they add onto your stress with their incompetence and rude representatives. Of particular, a representative named Ebony kept me on hold for over 20 minutes just to tell me that our childcare center did not update the tuition rates for all children in the center. This program was created with the potential to be something very beneficial and special for families, but the way it’s run makes the experience frustrating and expensive. Communication is extremely poor, and the staff comes across as lazy and disorganized. Even when families prepare months in advance and try to do everything the right way, the process still gets delayed.
