The first five minutes—amazing. Cucumber water, a warm towel, care and attention. So promising! And then the chef starts. He calls himself a DJ, and proceeds to play music so loud I can’t talk to my friends from out of town the entire time. We had friends covering their ears while they weren’t eating and the chef couldn’t care less. If you are providing a CLUB experience advertise it as that, not as an “intimate” omakase. Interesting experience, to be sure... Omakase aspect was decent. Excellent sake. Yummy food, although there was a long wait in the middle and then a VERY quick rush with a ton of food at the very end. Worst thing about this place is the lack of accurate advertising. There's no mention on their website of the extremely loud music, flashing lights, and random flamethrower fire show, which really isn't something you expect in an omakase setting. The food was good, but just average for the price. However it took about 1.5 hours for the main course to come out and it came out too all at once. The rice was over seasoned so I couldn’t taste the fish. They also didn’t explain the courses as they were given, just all at once a bit before they came out. The noise was too loud, the lights were flashing, the smoke burned the eyes. The fires were bright and burned the eyes. Requests to lower the volume were mostly ignored. We went here for my Fiancés birthday this past weekend. We have been wanting to schedule reservations for awhile, and finally got the opportunity this weekend! From the start, everything is very visually attractive. Very small group, nothing feels busy or crowded. We started with a drink from the bar as recommended from our sommelier. I LOVE Chika, so I hesitate to leave anything but a 5-star review. I've been several times, but I went again recently, and the experience was not what I have come to expect. So I'm writing this review because I love this place and want it to stay at the top level. We booked the 8:00 PM seating, but were not let in until about 8:30 (so the first seating went from 6:00 to 8:30).
