Yuck. This place self-promotes as "the musician's store" - but I don't know any who agree other than as a nostalgic notion. They are far more expensive than most, and they have terrible service, absolutely rude. (I've noticed they treat their young staff lousy, too.) They SELL rather than hand out polishing clothes with their advertising on them. A Magical trip thru Music wonderland – Have you ever noticed how so many of the reviews are negative? People with an axe to grind. My experience at Chicago Music Store has always been magical. I think of what it would be like to go into Olivander's Wand shop in the Harry Potter movies whenever I visit the down town store. Downtown=Horrible/East-side locale=Excellent I have gone several times to the downtown location, and each time I found the staff extremely unhelpful, the quality of instruments poor, and the prices way too high. I finally went to the East side location and was extremely impressed with the atmosphere. The lady working the counter was very knowledgeable and helpful, even though she had been at work all day and into the night (they were doing an evening event). The manager was also very friendly. Long Time Customer This store is great. I guess you will find all walks of life here, because they have been here for 90 years! They had some renovations recently and it looks great! If you haven't been to the East side location, you should check it out. Totally different from the Downtown store. The two managers there are great and very helpful. The East store also offered me two free private lessons and they re-strung my guitar for free! I love it!!

Excellent Customer Service! I was recently in the downtown store and liked the new look. Some new faces but was helped by both Bill and Moses which I think have been there a long time. These guys know what they're talking about and will give you the best service along with matching internet prices.Thanks for the great customer service! See you next time!

Take another look First 2 reviewers must have an axe to grind. When is the last time they checked out the Chicago Music Store. The selection is great, not a lot of the most expensive lines, but a few old treasures and lots of mid range selection. Current staff is knowledgeable and helpful. There is a reason they keep getting voted "Best Music Store" in Tucson. Check it out yourselves!
