Last evening (1/30/26) I went to see "The Enormous Crocodile, The Musical" at the Studebaker Theater. I saw it advertised at a Chicago bus stop, and thought it looked interesting. WOW. It was a fabulous show! The stage set, the puppets, actor's costumes, music, and singing were top notch. There were of course many families with very young children in attendance, but it was a great experience for the adults as well. Highly recommend! I plan to check out other shows in the festival.

I was totally mesmerized when I went to my first puppetfest 9 years ago. I had no idea puppets could have such sophistication and depth, nor did I realize that puppeteers did not need to be hidden to make the show effective. Over the years I have seen a lot of different works, and I always go back. Some are more masterful than others (like Plexus Polaire's remarkable "A Doll House"). exquisite! every year i see something that blows me away. diverse array of styles/heritage/venues, from large-scale show-stopping grandeur to 7th floor hideaway secret marvel. not to be missed! one of my favorite things about january in chicago <3
