I attended Chic Studios for a week-long course in 2021 and wanted to share my experience for anyone considering enrolling. I absolutely love Chic Studios - School of Makeup. The instructors are not only exceptionally knowledgeable but also active professionals in the makeup industry, providing invaluable insights and hands-on training. If you have money and don’t know what to do with it, this is the perfect place to waste it. I worked hard, saved every penny, and even skipped meals just to afford the $4,500 tuition for this so-called school. For a school located in NYC, near Broadway, this place is an absolute disgrace. A third-world country could do better at a more affordable cost. Growing up, I always loved makeup and dreamed of being a makeup artist. Amy is truly such an inspiration of mine, and she puts so much heart and intentionality behind what she does! I had the opportunity to attend the Chic Summit in NYC in October, and it truly was such an inspiring event. It was full of inspiring speakers, incredible community, and professional development tools and tricks to put your dreams into action. I highly recommend attending a Chic event!

I went to Chic Studios in 2019. While the instructors were friendly, much of the content didn't feel unique or beyond what someone could teach themselves online. Its perfect for those with no experience, but even with my limited background, it didn’t offer much and I wish instructors focused more on specialized skills. Overall it was a fun experience but for over $2k I had hoped for more training beyond what could be learned independently and industry guidance beyond a photoshoot experience. Looking back, I wouldn't do it.
