A bowl of gumbo and shrimp creole took over 30 minutes to arrive. Both were lacking in flavor and the gumbo felt as though it had been microwaved (some bites were cold and others too hot to eat). Half the tables were dirty despite no one being in there. Will not be back. Edit: The owners response speaks for itself

Rave. Having grown up in the Midwest, I’m always longing for genuine Southern cooking around here, and my first visit to Cherie’s Southern Kitchen completely knocked my socks off. It is hands-down the real deal and well worth a visit. Please support this local business.

The staff were very friendly. We tried several items and the cornbread was the star. The gumbo was delicious and packed with seafood. Unfortunately, both of our mac n cheese were a letdown with it being very watery and curdled. We were the most excited for the mac so a star was docked but hopefully it was just a bad batch.

Well, this is a bummer. I was craving some mac & cheese and cornbread which I know is very random, but I felt like this would be a pretty solid place to get those items. Unfortunately the mac & cheese was super separated and tasted almost curdled. I’ve been craving mac & cheese for weeks now, and this definitely stared me away from mac & cheese for the next several months now, so I guess there’s that.
