This is one of the most authentic Sichuan restaurants I’ve been to. The food is high quality, with clean, well-balanced flavors that don’t rely on excessive seasoning. We ate dinner at Chengdu Impression this week and it is one of the best Sichuan restaurants that we have ever been to and the food is very delicious. We tried the kung pao chicken, mapo tofu, eggplant in green pepper sauce, sliced snakehead fish and also wok-fried prawns with asparagus and we loved all of the dishes that we ordered. it is authentic Sichuan food and can be very spicy or less spicy if you prefer. We went back to Chengdu Impression again, with bottles of wine. The pity was that everyone that night felt the dishes were not as good as before. It made you feel they had changed the chef. Let's talk about the food: 椒麻竹筍 Bamboo Shoots in Szechuan Pepper & Scallion Sauce - $13.99 Obviously not fresh bamboo, in a weird green sauce. This is easily the best Sichuan food in the area, though be prepared for that signature spicy and numbing sensation. It’s a good idea to order the chrysanthemum tea alongside your meal to help soothe your palate. Since the dishes are served family-style, it’s a perfect spot to visit with a small group so you can try a bit of everything.
