Chelsea at Shrewsbury is an awful place. My mother of 95 yrs had a room there for less than 3 months and spent most of her time in hospital and rehab after falling twice and Fx hip and back. Care givers don't act like they care. They are rude, obnoxious and lazy. Residents wait up to 90 minutes with their buttons pushed. No night nurses on duty. Food was disgusting. The building is lovely, but the care is atrocious. BEWARE!!!

My dad moved into the Chelsea in mid August. The facility is new and the staff is great, but my dad is wasting away. He is having such a difficult time with the food as well as other residents I have spoken to. He was a chief and knows food. The issue is that he can't chew anything there. The vegetables aren't cooked the meat is to over cooked and most nights he leaves the dinning room hungry. He goes back to his room and eats whatever food we have stocked in his refrigerator for him or whatever he can make in the microwave.... read more

My mother moved to The Chelsea in New City about a month ago. I won't share her age, but she's past her 80s. She had been on her own in a condo since my father passed away last summer. She had some health issues and the family was concerned for her physical and mental health living alone, but with a 24/7 aide.
