All Veterans Homes are run by the state they are in, as far as I can tell. They admit only Veterans but none are run by the VA itself. They work with the VA to provide cate and services. Charlotte Hall has a beautiful campus and caring staff. I feel lucky to have discovered this residence for my father.
The facility is fine except there is no open gym to offer physical activity for the residents. The veterans need physical activity to strengthen their heart and muscles. Without physical fitness they become weak and will age quickly.
