I drove 45 minutes to get here to try their matcha, really hard to find parking and drive in traffic, finally made it by 6:40pm and the shop is closed on Friday night. The opening hour is said until 7pm from Thursday to Sunday. It's annoying that local businesses are so inconsistent with their business hours.
A must go
On select Thursdays and Fridays they offer a home cooked lunch + tea. Shiho was a delightful host and the meal + tea was a great way to slow down and be present. Shop their boutique or sign up for their many events throughout the week and month.
This tea house is one of my favourite hidden gems in the city. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable about teas, and serves some very yummy desserts that i will definitely be going back for (I haven't tried her savoury dishes yet, but they look delicious)! The shop also holds a fine collection of cute handmade ceramics that are displayed for sale. Just note that if you're trying to go to the tea room, it's a shoes-off zone once you pass the curtains! Slippers and boxes for your shoes are provided at the entrance.
Amazing experience, highly recommend getting a reservation on the site for a tea workshop. Can't recommend enough! Shiho Kanamaru is awesome.
