Want my list of good things about this place?..... I would if I could but I can’t.....I am not gonna wast my time with the negatives.....It is as simple as this—Do yourself a big favor and drive 60 miles north for the real thing.
My mother, 87, on blood thinners fell and knocked a tooth out at 1:00 am. Took her to Lynchburg ER and told them what had happened as she could not talk coherently. We sat for FOUR HOURS, without being seen by any medical professional. I should add that they were not busy. Receptionist was very rude and dismissive when I asked to at least have her examined. Five days ago I slipped on ice on our porch stairs and feel hard onto the stairs and ground. It knocked the wind out of me and I was in shock and terrible pain. I lay on an ice pack while calling Centra to see if I should go to the ER at the hospital or the Urgent Care on Main Street. since it's the same corporation. I was told on the phone that I could just come in to the Urgent Care because they could do imaging there. They tell you to get there at least 20 minutes early so that you can wait for nothing. I was happy with the group then a situation happened. It’s kind of a long story but my main dissatisfaction is because the nurse I spoke with didn’t include all the facts of conversation and because of that now they won’t treat me anymore with pain medications anymore and I’m having a lot of pain again from Arthritis. I can’t find another Doctor that is taking new patients. Not happy with them wish I had never went there! Live and learn!
I wanted to write this review specifically about one person I dealt with during my recent experience at Bedford Memorial Hospital. Lindsay(sp) Burch is absolutely the best nurse I have ever come in contact with during any of my Centra experiences! She not only did everything she was supposed to do but went above and beyond in making sure that I was taken care of no matter what. All of this while I think working a double shift! I feel that they actually saved my life.Walk in clinic and er visit,still very ill.They had enough sense to do blood work,blood work came back showing rocky mountain spotted fever,given the right antibiotic and feel much better.Only complaint I have is that you cant be seen when needed,appointments can be several weeks away
If I could give this horrible place negative stars, it would be negative 100. I was brought in by ambulance with a blood pressure of 212/111....potential stroke level. Then I was put in a waiting room full of maybe 50 people mostly on their phones that were not muted. Then I sat for over 5 hours. After 3 hours, I went up to the window manned by an extremely rude woman who said, "You were reassessed an hour ago." WHAT/ No I was NOT! I was NEVER reassessed during my over 5 five hour wait. I'd give them no stars if I could. They are worthless. My son dislocated his shoulder and after telling us they could help, after waiting to be seen for an hour and 15 minutes, they then said they could not help and we'd need to go to the hospital. They then proceeded to bill for that lack of service and have no way, per their own admission, for someone to "dispute" a bill (which I would think is a violation of a healthcare law somehow).
