I was sent to Centerstone by my family dr, under the Baker Act, for intervention and treatment for self harm/suicidal. After I was finished in admissions, I spoke with one dr there for about 10 minutes. No therapy. No treatment. 1. Missed the groups on Friday because I was in admissions 2. No group on Saturday because the group leader came in the day room and announced “No group today. Instead we will go out to the court yard and listen to music 3. No groups on Sundays. 4. Centerstone has been an amazing part of helping me rebuild my life after 23yrs of meth addiction. I did a 5 day detox successfully (my first and hopefully the last time I do that) and during that time I was introduced to the FITT team who helps parents with many different angles of support while I worked on myself while trying to to navigate through a dependency case to be reunited with my children. Manatee county Centerstone specifically FITT Department Has changed my life. I wouldn’t be where I’m at today if it wasn’t for them. They met me where I was at mentally and physically and helped me navigate the road to recovery. When I started with FITT, I was homeless, On drugs, And had an open dependency case with a goal being adoption.
