Loved all staff I enjoyed everyday. So kind and caring to patients.
I went here almost two years ago. The staff were awful, one of the staff members were often caught vaping in patient places. I saw the staff member vaping twice. I left this place worse then I got there. It got to a point of not focusing on getting better but focusing on getting out. Staff members got involved with the teen drama, and one of staff members downplayed a patients hallucinations.
Hey it's Stony. 😉 (This is a true story.) Yeah, it really was fun! -ish... I mean the amazing chef and the girls. The war stories and a staff basically glorifying his past PCP experiences was a trip! 🤣 This cowboy kid and a roommate ran away to get drunk with a hobo and showed back up at the house just obliterated! That stuff was comedy GOLD. I remember bumming cigarettes at a Cocaine Anonymous meeting, but the staff caught us smoking in our room! Thankfully, I went unnoticed. Discovery in Long Beach is a beautiful facility with kind and loving staff. My daughter was here for a very short time and even though the program wasn’t equipped to meet her needs at the time the staff still showed incredible dedication, kindness, and compassion while she was there and even went above my expectations in helping with next steps. I feel like people often forget that you have to put in the work for your recovery. And it has changed over the years. The staff is there for you if you need help, you can check in with them if you need help. There are one on one sessions and family therapy. Theres group therapy and community service. There are many types of therapy. All of the patients that I saw were very nice and welcoming, and excited to see a new kid. Not to mention very supportive.
