Although, it seems to me, the more we bring these issues to the attention of the opposition, the more they use these to thwart any opposing positions and legislation. They seem to be carefully monitoring diversity data and taking regulators who fail to enforce legislation to court. Protecting diversity is key to the survival of all species on earth, including our own. Almost all of our pharmaceuticals come from plant and fungi extracts, for example. We also need large predators to keep smaller prey populations in check. While some extinction events may be inevitable, others are easily preventable by correcting man's place within the global ecological system.
