I learned some really good clinical skills here. And some of the supervisors were supportive and helpful. However, some of the supervisors often micromanaged me and they often assumed the worst of me and thought I was “lazy” when I was trying to communicate that I had conflicting internship tasks and I did not want to be late for those appointments. During my internship at this center, I encountered what can only be described as a profoundly toxic and degrading work environment. This environment was fostered by individuals in positions of authority who fell far short of embodying the core principles of social work. Instead of empathy, sensitivity, and professionalism, they displayed a disheartening lack of these qualities.
