Had mixed results in the past. Today’s visit was very positive. Intake was efficient, friendly and pleasant. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Dr. Macauly was friendly and we were able to do a complete history and discuss options. Happy to have a positive experience locally.
The pa said they only do surgery for knee replacement. If you have a tear, pinched nerve, or the like, they will not do surgery. My knee was fine until I twisted it and then I had an incapacitating sharp pain. After eight months of mostly laying on the sofa, I made an appointment. She insisted that I only had arthritis and the only solution was monthly injections the rest of my life. StarBellied Sneetches is how I refer to Cayuga Orthopedics. I came away with the impression that they are running Senior Citizens through there like Dr. Seuss ran the Sneetches thru the Star Bellied machine in that tale. I went there with the results of tests stating I have miniscus problem(s) and a great deal of artrhritis. I left after being shocked when Dr. Blake said that i would be getting a knee replacement. This was probably my fourth attempt at getting care through Cayuga Orthopedics. I’ve seen two doctors there — Dr. Anderson and Dr. Donahue — and while each visit has been slightly different, the system as a whole feels disjointed, impersonal, and somewhat indifferent, with brief interactions from a few warm and friendly staff, but they are the exception, not the rule.
