Finding affordable accommodation in Castlemaine for one night was surprisingly difficult and the Castlemaine Colonial Motel was basically our only option for a night away. The photos online looked somewhat modern and the location was central so I'd hoped it would be okay for the price. We arrived to check in at 5pm on a Friday. We stayed for two nights at Castlemaine Colonial Motel. The room itself was clean and comfortable, but in hindsight, one night would have been enough for us. The motel has a somewhat unusual layout, and parking was quite limited, which made things a little inconvenient. Unfortunately, what stood out most was the lack of a warm welcome on arrival. I booked online via an app but rang as I was going to arrive very late and the staff were extremely accommodating as well as being friendly and helpful. I ended up needing to stay another night (& it was Easter w'end!) and they made it as easy and pleasant as stay as possible. The room was lovely and clean, they have lovely bathrooms with soap, shampoo and conditioner on tap and on top of the usual amenities there was an ironing board & ironing (which I needed) available in room. Very dusty in the rafters , as have allergies so made for unpleasant stay.
