If you are looking for an old school cottage overlooking the water in a child safe location, Castine Cottages are perfect! With knotty pine throughout, one queen bedroom and one with twin beds, a well equipped kitchen and a rustic screened in porch overlooking the Bagaduce River in lovely Castine-with a two minute drive to the Back Shore beach with magnificent sunsets, our family has enjoyed this spot for over 40 years. What a view! Old fashioned cottages are great and give a much needed break from technology. We lost wifi for a day, but we let the owners know and they called the cable company to get it fixed it quickly. As a rational person I recognize that the owners don't work for Spectrum so they have about as much control of the internet as they do the weather. Plus if anything we found it refreshing. Highly recommend!
I will start by saying I have no issue staying in a place that is rustic or old. As long as it is clean and the amenities work as promised/paid for, then I am entirely okay with such an experience. However. This was literally the worst place I have ever stayed in my entire life. I've traveled the world and have never felt the need to write such a review, but this was unacceptable. We really liked the large screened in porch with the table and two large, cushioned arm chairs. The porch provides a great view down to the water. Contact the owner (Allen) via the website to reserve a cabin.
