Honestly, he was very nice, but I think he was out of his element with my case. I went to a different colorectal provider the very next day, where I received a full external and internal examination, had appropriate tests run, and left with a healing plan I could start immediately. I think Dr. Casasanta saw that my presentation was atypical and, instead of doing a digital or internal examination, stopped exploring the issue and simply tried to refer me out (I still haven’t received that referral, either). Dr. Marc Casasanta is an exemplary surgeon and an amazing human being! After 12 years of self neglect and several hospital stays, my sigmoid colon needed to be removed. Despite my fear, he walked me through the process with kindness and compassion. On the eve of my shceduled surgery, I messed up my prep, had a break down, talked to him on the phone.
