Brilliance! I am far from a profesional food reviewer but after reading Liz H's review, I felt compelled to offer my opinion. My family and I have been customers of Casa Basso for over 40 years and the food is far from bland. If that was the case, the restaurant wouldn't be operating with the same chef/owner for the past 30 years. You must try the veal osso bucco and shrimp scampi over pasta. As for the service, it is always terrific. We are treated like family every time we walk in the door. I find it hard to believe that L... read more
"THE BASSO" "The Basso" has been and remains my favorite restaurant. I enjoy checking out new and special places but always end up back at the basso. Numerous specials every night, fresh fish and seafood, as well as high quality meats, and a chef who is also the owner, what a combination! Portions are large so everybody takes home a doggie bag. Never hurried, always excellent, storied location(there's a castle and statutory on the grounds) stop in and have a GREAT meal.
Brilliance? This place could be amazing - Waterfront location - Campy sculpture outside are a real draw. Too bad the food was so bland. In fairness we have not been back in 2 years and it could have changed but we were very disappointed - slow service, average food and $$$

A Great Dining Experience – My dinner at Casa Basso was excellent and very unique. Service was exceptional. Atmosphere is amazing. And it was the best Italian food I had in a long time. Everyone should check this place out.
