Caruso's Restaurant

About this business

For more than half a century, the Zagona family (three generations) has served some of Tucson's best Italian cuisine. The patio, with fountain and flowers, is the preferred choice with diners, but indoor dining is just as comfortable. The family-friendly staff and kitchen present hefty pasta portions, all you need is to order the right wine to accompany your dinner.

Very disappointed. Italian is my favorite food but not here. Did not have spaghetti and meatballs on the menu so we just told the waitress we wanted that item. Come to find out that is a Specialty Item, and approximately 1 and 1/2 cups of spaghetti was $18 the meat sauce was $4 (did not order meat sauce and the marinara was no extra charge) and 3 meatballs were $9. So, $31 for spaghetti and meatballs with a rather small portion of spaghetti noodles. And my companion had the combination lasagna and eggplant which was swim... read more

ok service, good food I had a great food experience here. I had the cheese lasagna and the eggplant parmesean. They were so filling and tasted great. The service was no so good, it took a very long time for the food to come out and they were not as accommodating as I had hoped for. The atmosphere is great for a family dinner or a date. Very nice place.

Kitschy, but commercial Caruso's on 4th Ave. offers an old country atmosphere with old country food. The atmosphere reminds you of Lady & the Tramp, as the tables are adorned with red-checked tablecloths and candles. Perfect destination for a casual to cozy night out as a couple or as a family. The food is basic Italian, but it compliments the atmosphere. Plus, the price is downright cheap. The service could be better, but at least it is quick.

This place has been here forever for a reason... ...but the old world ambiance is the larger part of it. And why change a successful formula? This is the kind of old-fashioned Italian restaurant with candles and red-checked tableclothes (just try to pretend they're cloth!), for a romantic but reasonably priced dinner - just like in Lady & the Tramp! Recipes are as old-fashioned (translate: very basic food with very basic flavor) as the decorations - but if you set your sights on tradition & fun rather than top cuisine, and f... read more

Frightenly HORRENDOUS food!!! This restaurant doesn't even rate 1/2 a star!! I seriously want to know if the people who give Caruso's a thumbs up review are employees there, the owners, or related to the owners in anyway. THAT would explain any good reviews given regarding the quality of Caruso's food and service, of which is basically zero! I have never in my life tasted such awful, bland, doughy, half-cooked, greasy food and actually PAY to eat it! And to add insult to injury, if you gently complain about the food, they'll... read more

Great Lasagna I really enjoy the sauce here and the lasagna. I can't say that I have tried many other dishes here as I almost always get the same thing. The worst part about this place is the crazy wait. If you want to eat here don't go on a weekend night, you might have to wait 90 minutes or more. Also this isn't the part of town to hang out for a long time. Someone is always trying to score my leftovers!

Caruso's Restaurant is not good at all My husband is a Boston Italian. We went to Caruso's lst night for the first time. It was horrible. The waiter gave us excellent service but the Veal was a joke. It tasted like lunch meat baked with sauce and cheese. I wouldn't give them a secdond try...I would never go there again and hope to warn anybody else away from there. I make better veal at home. Sal and his wife should come to my house for a good Italian dinner.

Food was not very good, I was surprised because I had ate there in the past and it was delicious. Also they close at 9 not 11 like advertised.
