We were forced to take an ambulance from Elizabethton to JC for a dog bite. The hospital did not let us drive there and then charged us $850 for the ambulance ride. This is unethical and highway robbery.
I can't thank the Carter Co. Rescue Squad and Roan Mtn Volunteer Fire Department enough for checking on my neighbors after Hurricane Helene and clearing trees on their driveway to get to them. They also cleared a HUGE tree from my driveway so I could out. Thank you for all your hard work and long hours during these trying times. You are all the best!!
I’m pretty sure this is the correct squad that picked me up at my home - Austin and Hailey were super kind to me, they made me as comfortable as I could be on the drive over to the hospital. I was very nervous using an ambulance service, because years ago I had a bad experience with a different ambulance service in another county. But Austin and Hailey were absolutely wonderful EMT’s, very understanding, sympathetic, and sweet. Got lost on the trail due to a combination of damaged markers and barely visible markers leaving Laurel Falls..had limited water, Carter County Rescue gave me directions on how to get back on to the trail..and find familiar territory. They gave my 2 boys each a bottle of water and chem lights each (glow sticks) they assisted us about a qtr of mile to get to our vehicle.
