No guarantees – I called with a simple question (can I buy guacamole and chips for a party?) and was instructed to call the owner at the cell # provided. After three days and numerous redials she has yet to return my call or answer her phone.
Carrburritos – The burritos are made with fresh, tasty ingredients and aren't too expensive considering the large portion size. However, every time I've gone there the staff has been either blatantly rude or just noticeably surly/snobbish...this has definitely deterred me from going back
Staff is incredibly rude – I will never eat at this dump again. Two different members of the staff were extremely rude to me, the glasses were filthy and the food was so-so, at best. Do yourself a favor and go to one of the other dozens of Mexican restaurants in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area.
Burrito joint with a twist – Carrburritos was one of the places I was told I had to go to when I moved up here. It's a local favorite, and with the large variety of unique ingredients (seafood, sweet potatoes) along with typical favorites, it doesn't disappoint. In fact, the food is so exceptional, including a slew of salsa options, that it would be an perfect restaurant if not for... 1) Drinks. I don't know about you, but a can of soda or a cup of water is not enough beverage to get me through a meal. The lack of a fountain... read more
Great guac and great salsa. – I wouldn't go so far as to say this is the BEST Mexican restaurant around, but the food is tasty and the atmosphere is lively. I've been there 5 times with different sized groups each time, and I've ordered something different each time. They have a friendly and helpful staff, and a nice place to hang out. Their salsas are out of this world!
third time was a charm – This is a very trendy place to eat in Carrboro/Chapel Hill. Although there was a fly in my lettuce the first time I visited Carrburitos, friends insisted that I give them another try. Second time, no insects but my food was rather bland and unimpressive. I was ready to give up. Third time, I went all out and got the mejor burrito and I have to say it was a much better experience. The salsas made in-house are very good, as are the flour tortilla chips. As a warning though, the staff can be a little im... read more
best mexican food! – this is one of the best mexican restaurants....the food here is very fresh...their salsas are great...i often like to order a big plate with all their sides...their guacamole is excellent...as are their flour chips...a big drawback as a vegetarian is that they use their cuttingboards to cut up meat and then make vege burritos on the very same boards.....wish they were more 'vege-friendly' in terms of keeping a separate area somehow for making their vegetarian food and making sure that those who prepared ... read more
Amazing Carmelized Onion & Potato Burrito! – This place is incredibly good--the food is fresh, the staff are great, and the range of fresh salsas is out of this world! I recently moved out of the area, but when I'm back in town this is the first place I go. I especially love the carmelized onion and potato burrito, light on the black beans, heavy on the fixings...I could live on them. Note to Carrburitos: open an NYC branch!
Hit this funky, laid-back taco shack for great guac and a killer burrito. – In Short A hippie-chic Carrboro crowd gathers at this casual spot. Mexican tchotchkes adorn the sunny yellow walls and a handful of tables are scattered about the charmingly low-rent room. Cheap, fresh fare keeps the locals coming. The chunky guacamole and six house-made salsas are served with a big basket of corn and flour chips. Seafood dishes, tacos and quesadillas make up the menu. But the burrito with eight different fillings is the signature it... read more
