I would like to preface this by saying that the customer facing team at Oceanside CarMax are just fine. I traded in in June, and it was an extremely seamless and easy process. My issue is with the quality of the service team's multi-point inspections and diagnostics. Overall we liked our buying experience. This is the third time we bought from CarMax and we will likely keep doing so in the future. There were a couple of things that I feel can be improved upon. On our past purchases, CarMax always made sure the car was cleaned and detailed before you we took it home. This time around, the car came partially cleaned (seemed like it was washed a week ago) and has since then accumulated dust and dirt in the parking lot. This is how car buying should be. You compare the price they list against the market. If it works for you a simple click and you’re on your way. Once you arrive, no hassle, no up-selling, no ‘I have to ask my manager’, no Finance office selling you on ‘nitrogen tire fill’ and key FOB insurance. Simple extended warranty plans that you pre-screen. What you see is what you get. I hope they expand into new cars soon.

I sold my un-used car, normally the process is seamless but I non-opt’d the car. Carmax allowed me to park the car on their property for the 72hrs DMV processing time once I cleaned up the status. Thanks! I’ve sold and purchased multiple vehicles and each time I’ve felt like I was treated fairly and professionally. Thanks Oceanside, CA Carmax ✊🏾

Such a seamless process. I will never buy another Craigslist car or step foot in a regular car dealer again unless it’s Ferrari. Larry was my sales manager. One of the most genuinely kind and helpful people I’ve met. We hit a hiccup (my fault) that took a long time for the back office to resolve and Larry did magic tricks for me to pass the time!
