I hear people complaining about RMH. I wonder if it isn't the mind set of that person. I have dealt with RMH for 70 years on & off as needed. I have NEVER had anything bad to say about treatment there or the Doctors or staff, nurses, food etc. I'd say we are not happy to go there but they give amazing care of us ! Maybe we ought to be more understanding of their jobs & be as pleasant as we can....
Like all the rest. Impossible to actually make an appt. My pcp referred me for first colonoscopy screening. 2 months later they sent a letter instructing me to call them. When I called I was required by the automatic system to enter my personal information, then an operator (not in the Gastro dept) picked up and verified my name. She said she saw the referral in the system and was transferring me to scheduling. After holding for 5ish mins someone in the Gastro dept picked up the call. Worst Dept in Carilion & the worst doctors. Will never refer someone to this dept. Been sick for 7 years. Type 1 Diabetic, A1C 7.1, & body rejects all food except a bland pc of protein that you can eat once a day before the sickness takes over. All they want to do is take your money & not offer any help. Just want to treat you like an experimental lab rat.
I was referred there to have bile duct surgery, he literally told me he wouldn't do the surgery because, well, he just didn't want to!! He said it was a tick bite instead, WOW! Blood work proved it was not a tick bite! I was then referred to UVA, a wonderful gastroenterologist at UVA did surgery, placed a stint to open my bile ducts and an now better!
