Update 5/16/2026: They finally refunded the diagnostic fee, but only after significant pressure and a formal complaint with the BBB. They still have not acknowledged fault for the installation error. I have since started working with a different local Solar Installer who uses similar equipment and has been much more professional and transparent. I had my solar system installed late 2024 and it went fully operational in January of 2025. I have REC grid tied panels with a Tesla Powerwall 3 battery backup. It’s been in use over a year now and I haven’t had a single problem with the system and it has performed better than expected. The Tesla app makes it super easy too. Our install team was fantastic and very helpful throughout the process.

I'll preface my review with a couple of positives. Carbon Recall did provide some of the best initial communication that I received leading up to my decision to use them for my solar. The install guys were fast! And had a good attitude. This was beginning of August. However, from there stuff started to unravel. It took 8 weeks from install until the system was half activated. This cannot be blamed on the inspector or Northwesternenergy as both of them completed their assignments within 3 days of it being ready for them. Now ... read more

Update 10/27/2025: I am posting this as a public warning: there are other companies and electricians you can find to do these kinds of installations, and I suggest you do that or figure out how to install the system yourself. Additionally: 2 of Carbon Recall Kalispell 5 star reviews come from people with the same last name as the ops manager (Vogel), and an additional five star review comes from someone with the same last name as one of their other associates (Schermerhorn). My husband and I had received two bids from other solar companies in Billings before meeting with Zach. He came in with a competitive offer and we were impressed by his knowledge of solar and his transparent approach with cost and the pros/cons of different system components. Despite a couple hiccups during installation, Zach was quick to respond and get things back on track. Thank you Carbon Recall for a great experience going solar!
