So after 5 months of care, my childs therapist is leaving. She offered to warm transfer him to another one of their providers, but I declined and asked for a discharge letter to go outside and bring the new therapist up to speed as well as for my insurance. His last 2 weeks of therapy she started becoming unprofessional, communicating directly to my child about about appointment cancelations and schedule changes without including me, prior she alway included me. Even though my therapist is cool, the billing department for Canino is not. I was sent an email from women by the name of Zev Neuhaus stating that I owe money from a session I had on 6/13/2024. During that time I had switched jobs and my insurance had lapse and my new insurance at my new job at the time started on July 1st. I was informed at the time from Mike Canino himself of the issue and stated that I had to pay for the lapse sessions out of pocket which I agreed and PAID (I have proof of receipt). I’m writing this review not out of bitterness, but out of deep disappointment — and in hopes that others seeking trauma-informed care don’t walk into the same emotionally unsafe situation I did. My experience with this practice has been chaotic, unprofessional, and ultimately retraumatizing. It started when I scheduled an intake session for therapy. I’ve been seeing a therapist at Canino psychotherapy for help with anxiety and depression, and I honestly can’t thank them enough. They’re incredibly understanding, easy to talk to, and have really helped me work through some tough times with practical tools that actually make a difference. The office itself is super welcoming, and the staff are always kind, attentive, and on top of things. I always feel comfortable and cared for every time I go in.
