My dental hygienist asked me why I premedicated with 4 tabs of amoxicillin. She said did you have a knee replacement or a hip replacement which was inappropriate to ask some one that question. I then told her why; mild MVP since birth. She said I never heard of that before and accused me of causing Antimicrobial resistance. I replied that I am a registered nurse with Board Certification in Epidemiology and Infection Control and that 8 pills a year (Dental cleaning twice a year) by mouth will not cause it.
