great rental experience – I needed a bike rental for the New York MS ride. I was frustrated about not being able to reserve a hybrid bicycle in advance as I was traveling from out of state for the ride. Manager Don took a reservation so that would be sure to have a bike on arrival. On arrival he had the bikes set aside and ready to go. Changed out some pedals I brought with me and was out of there in less than 5 minutes. Great service, Great attitude, Great manager. Our 2nd year of renting from them for the MS ride and we'll... read more

Love it! – I recently purchased my first road bike from Larry's and could not have had a more positive experience. Not only were the prices the best in the area, but the customer service was far superior than that at other bike shops I had visited. The shop and its staff exude a sense of warmth and community that immediately make their customers feel comfortable. John spent several hours helping me find the perfect bike. For each bike that I test rode, he made sure that the seat post was the exact right height and that I und... read more

Best bicycle service in New York City – These guys are the best! In July 2008, my wife and I decided to replace our 2 'clunkers' with new hybrid city bikes. We went to Larry and Jeff and from the getgo had the best experience. We told them what we wanted and what the price range we wanted to be. They gave us all the time and allowed us to test ride 8 bikes over a 2 day period until we selected the bikes we wanted and never tried to upsell us to a more expensive bike. In the end we upped our ourselves (from $500 to $1500 for ... read more

Larry and Jeff's...more like Moe, Larry & Curly... – What a horrible experience. The girl at the front desk was very snooty. She copped an attitude from the moment my girlfriend and I walked into the shop. I'm not sure what her problem was. She didnt explain the terms of the service well which included charging my credit card $300 as a holding fee. She actually charged the card...Then, after she assigned us two bikes, the incompetent attendant couldnt get his act together to find the exact bikes she charged us for. The place... read more

Great stock, helpful staff – My fiancee and I went here to get new bikes after years of not riding. I had actually gotten my first bike there when I was 10, so it was a bit surreal. Some of their staff are really quite helpful: our sales rep really took time to get us bikes that were right for us, even though our price range was on the very low end of what they sell! Their service people are all very competant when we've needed to modify the bikes. The prices are definitely on the high side, and can be a bit scary: seeing th... read more

Best bike store in the city! – Years ago my father and I did a serious search for a fancy new bike and, after months of research, ended up buying from Midtown Bicycle. I was just back by today for help packing a bike to ship and they could not have been more helpful, efficient, or easy to work with. At least two of the people working this morning raced professionally, so they know a lot of technical/practicle stuff from experience, but they are also respectful of the most naive questions and requests (me- who can't fit my ow... read more

Amazing Service – I highly recommend going to Metro Bicycles (Midtown Bicycles) for all your needs. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, especially Leo, the manager. He outfitted me with a new bike, selling me what I NEEDED, not some supped-up bike that I did not need. He then spent over two hours making sure I was properly fitted on the bike. Great staff, great store!

Great Selection and Service – After a few unsuccessful attempts to buy the right bike at a couple of "trendier" places, it turned out Manhattan Bycicles had a few bikes in my price range/size for me to try built and ready. The staff was friendly and very helpful. They have a great selection of bikes, and if it's not built and on the floor, they can put one together for you in about hour. In fact, it turned out they had the one bike I wanted that was on backorder everywhere else I went. I would definitely recommend this shop ... read more
