I hate to give a bad review. Most of the staff are friendly, my 1 star is for the new process. I’ve been coming here over a year now and I used to be in and out of the building in an hour and a half. Well not anymore. It takes so frigging long now to even get your vitals checked. Example: appt booked for 9:15am. I get there at 9:10am. Check in on my phone. I wait. I came to this plasma donation center with my mom today, who was fully willing to donate. Unfortunately, she was not allowed to proceed because her English is basic, even though I was there with her specifically to help translate. They didn’t allow me to assist her, even though I’m her daughter. What made the experience even more disappointing was that the person who assisted us told my mom that she could come back in three months if she learned to speak better English. Stuff is polite, nurses are nice and friendly some are experienced and the process goes smoothly. some of the nurses don’t have enough experience, they struggle to find the vein, but there is always a more experienced nurse that will help, sometimes I get bruises and pain afterwords, healing takes more than 4 days for me. There are some days very busy or over book, some other days goes very well . the process takes more than 2 hours.
Their bureaucracy is embarrassing. I had minor surgery and was told to come back, with a doctor's note, after it was fully healed. That I did. Then I was told that Grifols doctor needs to review it and therefore, I was sideline for weeks on end. A later date was given for me to come in, with yet another doctor's note. I follow through on that. I was told, because my ineligibility mark is still on the file, their doctor has to review it again, then remove the ineligibility mark and give another donation date.
