Waited over 7h30 for an xray. The front desk were not nice nor understanding. I heard them say they wanna go work in the back because “they cant deal with people anymore”. What kind of service is that? I do not recommend coming here for animal emergencies. There is no empathy. It took them almost 2 hours to take “vitals”. No updates in between and when I asked they were visibly annoyed. I was told to come get my cat at a certain time and they made me wait an extra hour. AN HOUR. Thank you Canada West for the thoughful card. When our beloved Gomi crossed the Rainbow Bridge, we were deeply heartbroken with shock, so brought him to Canada West right away with little hope. Sadly, there was no miracle. We were informed Gomi had already passed away. The staff at Canada West gave us the time and space to say goodbye, and even allowed us to return the next day to see Gomi again in a private room. I’m extremely disappointed with the customer service we received when calling Canada West Vet regarding a pet emergency. The receptionist who answered the phone was rude, dismissive, and showed a complete lack of empathy for a very stressful situation. When you’re calling about a pet emergency, you expect at least basic compassion and professionalism, neither of which were present. Canada West saved our dog’s life on Christmas Eve, when he unexpectedly developed bloat, leading to a twisted stomach, and needed life-saving emergency GDV surgery. They were quick to take him in and diagnose. Despite it being a holiday and late at night, the team performed his surgery around 1am. They called after surgery and each day, morning and afternoon, while he was there to provide updates. Risk of very long wait times at night (2+ hours and not even sure if vitals were checked). I spent the 2+ hours reading the reviews and learned that many patients were kept waiting much longer. Front desk staff were very nice to me and my cat but I would strongly consider going to other animal hospitals before this one.
