*********, After reviewing your comment, it appears that you live in Brunswick Plantation. Brunswick Plantation has a special assessment to rebuild the Clubhouse that was lost to fire in 2017. This was certainly something that fell outside the normal budget, and because of that, your HOA Board recommended a Special Assessment to raise the needed funds.
