I just stayed at the Creative Retreat for a weekend, and it was truly an unforgettable experience—such a hidden gem. The property is beautiful, with about 15 donkeys, peacocks, chickens, a peaceful forest, and a river. One of the highlights of the trip was a guided “shinrin-yoku” walk (Japanese forest bathing—a therapeutic relaxation practice), where the owner set up a picnic for us with fresh fruit, egg salad made from her own chickens’ eggs, homemade hummus, chips, tea, and more. Nice quiet get away from the city life.
What a wonderful place to settle in for a day or a week and let your artistic muse guide your way into what ever project you need to work on or finish…or you can just commune with nature and let this little art colony be the backdrop to the story you are in or are writing about. Oh and if you have a telescope, be sure to bring it. The skies at night here are breathtaking.
Great place for primitive camping near the little Buffalo River.
Love the sound of donkeys braying in the morning. Fun critters.
