Owners Bill and Kim Volk opened the Camp Robber in 1994 in downtown Montrose, Colorado. The concept for this unique restaurant began many years earlier when the owner's love of the mountains moved them from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Colorado. The service was fantastic, but unfortunately the food was lackluster. Two ends of the spectrum, tacos and chicken fried chicken; neither left us impressed. We felt jilted when we left. Too expensive for the quality. Flavorless meats and excessive vegetables (75% of my plate was green beans and wax beans). Extremely disappointed with our visit. Don't plan on returning.
Went for Sunday Brunch (9:00-2:00). At 12 noon they were out of the Quiche Lorraine listed as a special. Another special was blueberry crepes. A couple of people ordered these and received crepes with no filling whatsoever, covered with whipped cream, banana slices, and chocolate sauce. Not a blueberry or blueberry jelly/jam in sight.
