We brought our daughter to Alaska for a senior trip and this was by far our favorite place to stay. We stayed for several nights in early July and wish we could have stayed longer. The weather was quite chilly at night, but the beds were delightfully snug and cozy, and it is so peaceful to fall asleep listening to the sounds of the nearby river or the rain on the tent. A magical stay in a beautiful location. You are close enough to the fun that is McCarthy, but still feel removed and private. Denise has thought of everything for this glamping experience. Beautiful well sited tents with the most comfortable beds and pillows. Outhouses that are nicer (see her pics) than some of the hotel bathrooms. Lovely pavilion area with showers, sinks, food storage and a fire pit.
We stayed for two nights June 12th-14th and it was absolutely amazing. McCarthy was just waking up it seemed for the summer season and visitor volume was low. This made staying at Camp McCarthy even better so we could soak in the amazing views without loads of people doing the same. Our tent was perfect and just what we needed to have the creature comforts of home but be out in the wilderness. Glamping at its best! Extremely clean, Camp McCarthy is in a beautiful location with cozy and comfortable beds. Even in the rain, our tent was warm, large and accommodating. We had a heater and hot water bottles if we needed them. Denise is a welcoming and gracious host. This is THE place to stay in McCarthy.
Our stay at Camp McCarthy was incredible and could not recommend it more! Denise is a great host who thinks of all the small details to make your stay very comfortable. We can't wait to return one day!
