I was a resident at Camelback Sober Living this year. My experience was strange from the beginning. I was 19 days clean and in a primary treatment center when my Therapist suggested I go to a sober living house for 3 – 6 months after discharging. After some resistance I agreed to it and he suggested a place called Camelback Sober Living in Scottsdale, AZ. Apparently he knew the owner and had placed his patients there in the past. There is one thing that Camelback Sober Living is good at: Advertising. Unfortunately, what is represented is not reality. 1) The picture of the pool with the chairs around it (the websites main picture), well, no pool exists at Camelback. 2) The claim that the owner is a masters level counselor? Afraid not. The owner has yet to complete his online degree. He is also insensitive to victims of trauma which make up a large base of addicts. 3) The place is overpriced.
