During my externship I feel like I learned a lot about how a real phlebotomist might experience their everyday work life. Having different people, other than my fellow students made me feel more confident in my skills. I also loved showing my friends and family all that I have learned here. I volunteered for a blood draw during one of the phlebotomy classes. Everyone was super friendly and made me feel comfortable. The student (Anahy) made me feel safe and informed every step of the way. Evelyn was great too—she was helpful and made sure everything was done correctly.
The externship for the phlebotomy was really nice. I feel supported through my time externing here.
I took the phlebotomy technician program with the instructor Evelyn Jauregui, and I really liked the guaranteed 40-hr externship we had. It felt very organized and well put together since we had everything set up and ready.
I did the phlebotomy program, and after we finished the lecture portion we entered the externship portion. This is by far my favorite part of the program, because it felt like we were actually working in the field. Ms. Evelyn taught us how to set up the classroom in a way that felt real, and the opportunity to bring in volunteers enhanced the experience. We also learned how to enter patient information and print labels to send specimens out for testing, which are extra skills I didn't expect to learn but greatly appreciate!
