My father had a medical emergency and was taken to Calais Community Hospital and I could not be more thankful. Every single staff member from the nurses to the pa's to the doctor were the kindest, most empathetic people I have ever met. I have been in a few hospitals for my own medical emergencies and none could meet the level of care my father and I were shown. If I could leave a review with zero stars I would; this hospital acts prejudiced against plus-sized patients and they don’t bother investigating symptoms further for revisiting patients still experiencing excruciating pain. My mother nearly died because of their negligence.

It's one of those things where it is too personal to tell the story online, but I would do almost anything to avoid the ED here. The rest of the hospital, I have no personal experience with, except that the management team failed to respond to my serious concerns, so I wrote the place off as too scary to deal with. I'd rather drive to Bangor.

One of the worst hospitals in America The emergency room is full of nurses who seem busy but aren’t actually doing anything. They might check up on you once every two hours. You’re better off driving to Bangor or Machias. My mother died at this hospital because of its incompetence. When I went back to the hospital on the year anniversary of my mothers death to pray in the chapel, I was kicked out of the hospital by security. I was praying for my mother when I was told to leave the hospital. This place is evil and incompetent... read more
