cal poly loves to boast about their “free resources”, but really if you used the health center 3 times during a school year, you’re paying $260 for the visit alone in addition to every other test they order you (and don’t inform you it’ll be an extra cost) as cp students we have to pay a total of $780 for this health center a year, and that’s mandatory, and it’s also not health insurance. it’s just so we have access to this health center. i came in my first quarter to test for strep throat. they did the test and it came back... read more
came in with an extreme bacterial infection and intense pain - refused to prescribe an antibiotic until lab results five days later, but my pain was so bad I went to urgent care, got antibiotics within the hour, and was almost completely healed by the time the lab results came back - would recommend for tests and cheap pharmacy things but, they don't treat well and seem only to have a prescription of covid tests and rest. If your actually sick sick, go somewhere else.
Cal Poly Health Center has the best care and they’re always available to help when you’re in need. Their staff is excellent and their pricing is remarkable.
Freshman year I got what I thought was strep, and had every kind of symptom for it. I went there for antibiotics and my test for strep and mono came back negative. A week later, after already going back and telling them that I have strep and that the test is wrong, I’m still sick and miserable. Then my roomate gets sick and has the same symptoms as me, but tests positive for strep and mono (no I didn’t kiss him).
