I would not recommend this business. I made a booking here for a week stay to attand a class at JCU. Only three days later I recognised that there was a problem with my enrollment, which meant I had to cancel the accomodation as I did not need to be in Cairns. The lodge advised me that I was eligible for a refund, so I sent my details through. After one month, I still had not recieved anything in my account so I followed up. Wouldn’t recommend. I was an international student from the States who studied at JCU for a semester and lived at CSL during that time. Management wasn’t too hospitable. Also, food that was “provided” wasn’t good and almost always had mold. In fact, the “provided” food consist of cereal, fruit, and sandwiches for breakfast and lunch . That’s it. Would highly recommend avoiding, especially if the management does not change. I was an exchange student from the States studying at JCU and was told that CSL would be a good place to stay during the semester. It is good on paper but the new manager actively goes against what is written in the provided housing agreement and is only focused on finding ways to make money. Avoid. Management changes rules and removes services like late dinner, restricts breakfast times and does not serve the advertised hot lunch or breakfast despite it on the website and handbook. They dont care about residents, only their bottom line, food has has mold on it and several people have gotten food poisoning. Any concerns raised has been met by deleted comments and silence by management. Go to John Grey.
