My wife had a full knee replacement 14 days ago,no complaints with treatment, however on seeing our GP she noticed some redness and informed cairns base,had several blood tests and xrays at local hospital, all info sent to cairns. All good go home, 2 days later a phone call from cairns hospital not completely happy can you come to cairns immediately 1 hour plus drive we weren't able to so appointment made for next day at 10.30am Then another call can you get here at 9.45 all good leave home 7am to be sure it is now 11.30 am ... read more
As a remote area medic in far North Queensland. I have the displeasure of sending some of my patients to the cairns emergency department via the RFDS. Knowing that when they arrive they are going to receive the worst possible treatment. It doesn’t matter that the Doctor here gave the instructions to the cairns ED that the patient is meant to be in a bed. Just wanted to leave a cracking review for Dr. Lockey in the emergency department. He was sick as ay🤙 and made the experience amazing. There was a few fingers in a few places that I think we both had fun with🫣 But hey, at the end of the day it's all smiles. I have to say unless I had brocken arms, legs and head and extreme dangerous, I wouldn't come to emergency again. I do appreciate the nurses and doctors working early morning and I do understand there is extended waiting time if it is not urgent condition. Because I couldn't make appointment with GP and they don't supply consulting services if I have symptoms like sore throat, fever and cough, I checked alive waiting time which show 38 minutes waiting in emergency.
