Cairns Hospital: Emergency Department

Attended Cairns hospital emergency department today for what turned out to be a kidney stone. I’m from Melbourne and was blown away with how organised they were compared to public hospitals down south. Yes they were busy & yes they were short of beds but I was seen to very quickly & moved through the system of tests smoothly. The staff there deserve a medal!!

Si je pouvais mettre 0 étoiles je l'aurais fait. 2 soirs d'affilé aux urgences, minimum 5h d'attente grand minimum puisque la seconde nuit j'ai attendu plus de 3h l'ambulance. Premier soir arrivée et enregistré à 22h30, j'ai pu voir un médecin à 2h30 du matin pour la modique somme de 750$ et ils vous donnent de l'oxycodone comme si c'était des bonbons. Le second soir j'ai appelé l'ambulance à 17h, ils sont arrivés à 20h (les ambulanciers etaient très gentils), arrivee à l'hôpital à 21h on m'a mis sur un lit dans le couloir j... read more

I would like to commend the hospital staff for the excellent service delivered.Yesterday evening,after work, I was panicky to find my son in respiratory distress .On taking him to ED, I witnessed incredible team effort, support, reassurance and compassion.Everyone involved ,from triage, admin, nurses, radiographers, doctors , kitchen staff and cleaners was truly awesome .At all stages, we were well informed of the plan of care and all was done timeously.Thank you team for the positivity and support.You are greatly appreciate... read more

Absolutely amazed by the midwifery team, the doctors and anaesthesiologists at the Cairns base. I had a very long and unexpected end to my birth but everyone involved supported me and were out of this world wonderful.
