Hidden Jem in Lakeview/LP – I stumbled on this place from my boyfriend's sister. It was her birthday and she wanted to go here. At the time I was extremely disgusted by the idea of sushi and assumed it was all raw fish. I was converted instantly. It's been a year and I have gone to 15 different places. This continues to be the top of my list. Everyone we know loves it. We have got there in groups of 15+ before and service was amazing. No one was neglected. This is one of my favorite sushi places. Flexibility of a restaurant ... read more

Consistently Great! – I have been to Cafe Furaibo many times and have had a great meal every time. The sushi is consistently fresh and tasty and the staff has been very friendly, even treating us to complimentary tempura green tea ice cream. Also, the cost is not too high for the different rolls, ranging between $5-10 each. This is not a place where you go to be seen, so leave your pretentiousness at home because it is truly a hidden gem!

What a disappointment! – After realizing that my favorite sushi joint was closed today, I looked up reviews to find a replacement for the night. Furaibo came up with some pretty good ones and it was only a block away from the apartment. I walk in with a friend around 7:30pm and it's completely empty...it stayed that way the whole time we were there. We should've turned around and left, but I gave it them the benefit of doubt. I ordered the recommended rolls and it was such a disappointment. It was bland and uneventful. Grant... read more

Amazing Rolls, Nice Dining Space – On a hot summer day walking into Furaibo is a wonderful thing. The walls are cool colors and the tables are well spaced so there is a feeling of wuiet and privacy even when the place is busy. The rolls are excellent as well, there are the tried and true standard, dragon rolls, catepillar rolls, and then there are smoe fun creations like the fire drop rolls - oh so tasty. For those not interested in the raw fish the yakisoba (fried noodles) are wonderful, a tangy salty sauce and a good mix o... read more

Good BYOB sushi – This is a good BOYB sushi restaurant. The food is excellent. The specialty rolls are innovative and flavorful. The servers were friendly. Soulful disco house plays at a nice low volume. It did take a little too long to get the food.

You've had the rest, now try the best! – This is the gem of japanese restaurants in the city! Omi and Aggie offer the best maki rolls and sushi in the city, not to mention the value.

User review by bhuser – I was very excited to try this restaurant after reading a lot of great reviews on the food. The atmosphere was very nice and the value of the food was good. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in the food. We started with some Miso soup and tried a variety of maki rolls including the fire drops and spider rolls among some of the other signature rolls. The rolls failed to deliver anything unique or flavorful. So for the true sushi lovers in the city, I would not recommend it.

Charming, quiet Japanese spot draws a young Lakeview crowd with creative maki at reasonable prices. – In Short Cheerful red and blue walls contrast with blond wood tables and steel-gray carpeting at this welcoming Lincoln Avenue date spot. The menu includes standard starters like goma ae and tempura, plus more intriguing fare like fried oysters and sinus-clearing wasabi shumai (pork dumplings). Nigiri are available by request, but specialty rolls are the focus--from the deep-fried Peachy roll with eel and smoked salmon, to t... read more
