I grew up enjoying Ethiopian food cooked by my neighbors, and my girlfriend had never experienced it before. I’ve wanted to finish Cafe Desta for some time since I learned of its existence. And, I am so grateful we made the visit today. We split a Combination for Two choosing the Shiro, Fosolia (her favorite), Tikil Gomen (my favorite), Alicha Doro, and Ayeb. ★★★★★ Cafe Desta is a fantastic spot in Tucson! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was friendly and attentive. Everything felt fresh and flavorful, making the whole experience really enjoyable. Definitely a place I’d happily visit again and recommend to others!

The gomen is good but not great (oily). The misir wot tastes more like a midwestern bowl of chili (really heavy on paprika, lacking the balance of berbere and kibbeh) than the spiced lentils I'm used to, but it's not bad, just very different. The stews are fine. The injera is passable. Great service though.

I'm not vegan, never have eaten vegan type dishes but I had a guest that is vegan so we decided in dinner at Cafe Desta. I couldn't tell you much of the menu as it hardly made sense to me lol. My guest loved it tho , said it was delicious. The owner was amazing, patient and friendly and even offered my guest samples so she could make a better decision. The atmosphere is very laid back kinda like being in a southern household, welcoming and very relaxed.

OMG! The food is FANTASTIC! We got the Works. So we had a bit of everything. I loved it a all. I also got the Yekemem Shai tea iced. It was like Christmas in a glass. I will be back. We all just dug in. I am usually not adventurous food wise. But I am glad I braved it.
