Donnie was pretty great. He was so patient with me and my lack of skill and coordination, and explained things well. This is a really cool, very hands on class, and he even showed me how to weld and didn't laugh at my horrible welding job. I was able to make three fun items, including a rustic knife made from a railroad tie. This was such an enjoyable and informative class, I want to do it again. If you ever had the notion that you would like to try blacksmithing, this is where to start. You will learn the basics and come home with some treasures of your own making. You will find Donnie to be a very talented and helpful instructor. Go at your own pace. Even more enjoyable if two take the class together. A memorable experience.
My son and I had a very fun and great experience at C J Forge. The shop had all the equipment we could ask for and then some. Donnie is a patient, knowledgeable instructor with an evident passion for blacksmithing and an interest for sharing the experience with others. Donnie has the expertise to instruct people with zero experience up to skilled people looking for a new challenge. We would definitely recommend spending some time at C J Forge and plan to go back ourselves.
The blacksmithing class offered here is excellent. Donnie is informative, friendly, and a really good teacher! He got me ready to start blacksmithing on my own with info on everything that I would need.
I had a blacksmithing class today with Donnie at CJ Forge. Donnie was a great instructor and did a superb job explaining the entire process. During the class I made a leaf, a hook, and a fireplace poker. The experience was truly one of a kind. If you’re looking for something unique to try, this is it! If you do happen to try it out, take a moment to look around the shop at all of the different pieces laying around. True craftsmanship lies within!
