Butterfield 8 is inviting Very loud if you are looking for a nice dinner. Food was good. Place was beautiful. The bar area was extremely loud. Maybe if we weren't sat right at the edge of the dining room it would have been more enjoyable.

Great Experience at Butterfield 8 – I worked with the manager to organize a surprise 30th birthday party at Butterfield 8 in November and am just now getting around to complimenting her. She was totally helpful and offered many options for our party. We could have the back room (must spend a min amt), reserve several booths (no fee), and order some food. slow service – i was really excited to go here since the pictures of the restaurant looked awesome, so my friend and i decided to ht this place up for the dine about town week during lunch. i would have to say the service is slow as hell and the food wasn't even all that great. i think we all ordered the rib eyes. eh, i don't think i'd ever pay that much for food here. the only good part of this meal was the dessert!!

The food is TO DIE FOR!! – Top five favorite places to eat in NY .... yes that's right top FIVE! :) The ambiance in here is so where it should be. The lighting is just right .. not too bright .. not too dark. Perfect background for a fantastic dinner. The food is 'TO DIE FOR'! We had the mediterranean salad style salad --the best I've ever had!! My friend had one of their atlantic salmon dishes , and I ordered their sesame crusted ahi tuna --Wow, so yummy! Never knew about the Restaurant – So I went to Butterfield on a recommendation from a friend for dinner and i honestly had no idea it was a restaurant as well....ive been there for drinks with friends..(great time by the way)...but never for dinner...i must say i was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was completely different from its normal wild bar scene. Bar / Restaurant We went for snacks and cocktails after work and the place was crowded and loud. The place is nice, but it does get crowded on Friday, they have music so it attracts many people. The food is just so-so its more of a drinking hanging out bar than an eatery.

Better bars to be had in Manhattan – I went for drinks after work on a Friday, the bar was packed by 6pm and there was a DJ. We managed to get a table in the back which was much quieter and allowed for conversation. The spinach dip and chips was below average. The drinks were good, except one was served with a hair in it and the waitress didn't take it off the bill. This place is ok if you don't mind fighting the crowd and can overlook poor service.

Bartenders are great, Waitresses are horrible – All and all- this a great place to enjoy some after work drinks, the bartenders are great and make sure you don?t wait long for a drink (even when it is crowded). I highly advise against getting a table and having waitress service. A couple friends and I did and it was a disaster. To start off, they messed up our order.
