Forget the Chain Store For Just One Second Yes, a neighborhood hardware store does seem somewhat out of place sitting along the main thoroughfare of Santa Monica Boulevard. However, this is the sort of store I like to patronize when I'm not forced to use a big-box home-improvement place like Home Depot. The clerks know where everything in their store is, and they take the time to give detailed recommendations. The store is packed full of difficult-to-find items, and the prices are reasonable.
Great Neighborhood Hardware Store Busy Bee Hardware is one of those stores that has that Mayberry RFD feel. You walk in and there is stuff everywhere. The staff is super helpful and tend to know exactly what size nut, screw, washer, etc. you need. While places like Home Depot might have more breadth, Busy Bee definitely has more depth. This is the place to go for that hard-to-find part. And compare how hard it is to get the attention of the Home Depot guys v. one of the Busy Bee boys.
