Every time I go, I’m met with such kind and compassionate doctors and nurses, even with how busy and crowded it is. As a former healthcare worker, I truly appreciate and respect everything they do . After my emergency surgery, they took such wonderful care of me throughout the night and into the morning. This truly isn’t a job someone could do without genuine compassion. I am very disappointed with my experience at Burnaby Hospital Emergency Department. I had an accident where a very heavy man fell on me. I was in severe pain and felt like I might have injured my neck and head. When I arrived at triage, the staff member was very rude. She and others were talking about sales and laughing because it was close to New Year, instead of focusing on patients. When she finally took me in, she asked me to explain what happened. I got hifh heart rates and was very sumptomatic, doctor never treated my symptoms. Pre syncope, breathless, activity intolerant, palpitations anxious and impending doom. Sent me home with out giving any management to my symptoms. Later on I was diagnosed with IST Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia to consider Covid vaccine adverse effect. from a foreign contry thru e-consult. And was given Ivabradine and cardivolol. Er nurses in BGH didnt even bother to auscultate my heart.

I don’t even know what to say. I’m pretty horrified at the “care” I got here and would rather go literally anywhere else. I understand “risk assessment” but interrogating me regarding my mental health after 9 long hours of waiting is not best practice. I don’t have any medical training but I’ll tell you that for nothing I feel bad for any person who needs to go here for a mental health crisis.
