Yarrawonga boasts many good eateries but for the best pub food, Burkes is unbeatable. Friendly and attentive staff and an outstanding menu. Every option. From a Burkes burger to Grilled Barramundi, Salt and pepper Calamari Salad and lots more. A full kids menu. I chose an old favourite. Bangers n Mash $19). Three plump delicious sausages floating on a bed of creamy mashed potato and smothered with dark gravy with a sprinkle of chives. A bargain from Chef Jessy who is a master. 5 stars

Tried to order drinks in front bar, was treated rudely. Staff were behind the bar arguing with their supervisor about having permission to open the till. I waited cash in hand as they back and forthed and finally the bar staff reached over the till and said 'there it is'. I reached out my hand with the note and said 'here it is', She looked at for the first time since placing the drinks on the bar and said 'that will be $9.00'. Avoid at all costs. This pub used to be buzzing with previous owners and had to book a week in advance for the bistro. Last Saturday night there were 7 people in the bar and 2 in the bistro. The meals were barely edible, barmaid had zero personality and ear pods in the whole time. Room very basic. Window covered in a million cobwebs, in the morning no power for tv or to boil kettle. Housekeeping started vacuuming at 7.30 am when we heard somebody leave. Just wrong all round. So sad to see it like this

$35 for a decent surf & turf (the prawns were a day or two past their best, but not horrible) Cold beer. Nice, quiet venue.
