At best, the work done on our kitchen renovation is amateurish. The cabinet doors are misaligned, the backsplash tile is crooked, and during the refrigerator installation, they scuffed our just installed hardwood floors. To make things worse, they hoped we wouldn't notice by using a less expensive countertop material than what we had paid for in the contract. Attempting to resolve this with their customer support has been quite difficult.

I regret not doing more research before agreeing to a deal. The planned 4-week kitchen renovation ended up taking three months. After the presentation was over, there was no communication at all; I had to follow up with them all the time to see if anyone was arriving. Due to the "project manager's" infrequent presence on site, numerous errors had to be fixed twice. Choose a crew that values your time to avoid the hassle.

Pay attention to the "final" price. Midway through the project, we encountered a number of "unforeseen" expenses that ought to have been identified during the first walkthrough. In addition to the financial creep, every day the workers left my driveway and garage in a terrible mess, even exposing nails and garbage. They seemed to be more concerned with getting to the next task than with doing ours well. Completely unprofessional.

Without a kitchen, life is difficult enough, but Buildtech made it far worse. After more than two months without a working stove or sink, we were promised a "functional" kitchen in three weeks. They would vanish for days on end with no explanation. It's obvious that they overbook and neglect their existing clientele. The 'ideal kitchen' we had became a source of worry and a $40k takeaway bill.
