バッファローエアのDC3に搭乗。この型の飛行機をまだ飛ばしているのは、世界でもこの航空会社だけだとか。ディスカバリーチャンネルのリアリティ番組「アイスパイロット」にもこの飛行機が登場します。機内は古めかしくて60年代の雰囲気ですが、イスはけっこうゆったり。パーサー兼通信士兼パイロット見習いのパトリック君がコーヒーやスナックの機内サービスをしてくれました。操縦士と副操縦士も20代の若さ。極北の地では、若い人たちが活躍しています。 DC3型機は、1930年代に初の旅客機として航空史に登場して以来、今も世界のローカル線で活躍中。座席は21席。そういえば「カサブランカ」とか第二次世界大戦前後を舞台にした映画にも出てきますね。離着陸も上空もブリザード状態で有視界飛行は不可能でした。でも機体は古いけどよく整備されていてガタピシいうこともなく、最新機器で安定した計器飛行でした。着陸が非常に滑らかで、さすがはどんな状況下でも飛ばなくてはならないブッシュパイロットだと感心至極。
